What is the domain option used for?

A domain can be included for tracking your API activity within the Addressfinder web portal. When using the widget from a website, the address lookups used are counted against the domain of that website.

But when using the API, the lookups are not necessarily coming from a website and therefore the lookups would be attributed to the “unknown” domain within the portal. By including a domain in each API string, the activity of the API would be attributed to that domain. This will allow you to have better oversight of how much use that API is getting.

If you are using the API in a number of places within your organisation, we suggest you include a different domain for each different use case.
